GORGE ROAD JUMP PARK
The Gorge Road jump park is sculpted perfection for dirt jumpers and BMXers alike. They are a work of art, a labour of love and some of the best dirt jumps in the world! The passionate Gorge Road crew have been volunteering many hours to make this into a world class jump park for beginners to pro riders to enjoy.
These jumps have featured in many a bike movie and are a must see when riding in Queenstown. The jumps are closed over winter from mid-May to November and after heavy rain over summer. For the latest information on the parks opening days and when the crew will be running maintenance sessions, check out the parks Instagram page for updates.
For those of you that are new to riding at Gorge Road, there are a few things you need to remember when you ride there:
-
Wear a helmet
-
Water the jumps if it's dry using the hoses provided before and after you ride. If the sprinklers are on, please give them a good 15 minutes to soak in before you ride.
-
Don't ride when the lines are soaking wet after heavy rain
-
Try and fix any damage you cause to the features
-
Use the buddy system, please don't ride alone
-
Always take a look at the lines and check for hazards before riding in
-
Keep all entry lines clear for other riders and please don't run or jump on the jumps
-
Adult supervision is required for younger riders, especially those under 10
-
Please take all your rubbish home with you
-
Please respect all closures and signage the GR crew put in place.
Please feel free to ask the guys for advice and tips on riding the new lines. They can also show you how to use the hoses and how to fix any damage made to the jumps if you're unsure.
